Whiplash –
I always look forward to new books from Creston Mapes. Once I started this one I could not put it down. I finished in a day and a half – a new record for me. It’s a famiiar story, and yet I was hooked. As always, squeaky clean, which I greatly appreciate. So good – just read it!

I admit I’m a huge fan of author Creston Mapes, but I really think CELEBRITY PASTOR is his best thriller yet. I applaud the way he handled such a (sadly) relevant and timely phenomenon because far too many of us have witnessed or experienced the damage done by some of these “rock stars” of faith. For some, we’ve watched our children turn their backs on God at young and impressionable ages because of the hypocrisy and lies that they watched play out from the pulpits of our church. CELEBRITY PASTOR is truly a cautionary tale and one that every believer should read.

I couldn’t sleep last night, so I decided to use a few pages of CELEBRITY PASTOR as a tranquillizer. This is not a comment on the quality of the story. I’m old. A few pages of anything usually does the trick. I was up until two, but I digress… As I mentioned, I’m of a certain generation. I’ve seen more than a few “celebrity” pastors come and fall. It’s always money or women, or a combination of the two. This isn’t really news, so I wondered how the author would weave the mundane into the thriller that keeps me reading his books. I shouldn’t have worried. With his canny story telling and his uncanny sense of timing Mapes gave me a story that kept the pages turning way beyond my bedtime. My favorite quote in the story? “He was not sinning. He was special.” Let the reckoning begin.

I have read all of Creston Mapes books. This one tops the list. It’s a fast read full of suspense. I thought the book started out slow but after that it took off! Very thought provoking.

This is a story that is so realistic that you forget it is not true. I enjoyed the opening up to see the truth, and how often truth was overlooked. The instant gratification of keeping power over others must be addictive.

I liked this book. It’s a little different from the rest of Creston Mapes other books, but it makes you think about your relationship with God, church, each other. Also what would you do if confronted with wrong doing, would you tell or keep on going with your lifestyle, especially if you were rich and famous?

He is a gifted talent in addressing topics no other writer will attempt to dive into.While I am bit sad this isn’t the beginning of a new series, it has exceptional character development and emotion provoking content.Thank you, Mr. Mapes, for another Christian thriller that I COULD NOT put down.

First of all, not all mega churches and pastors are like the one described in the book. That being said, I could hardly wait to see what happened. If there is no accountability of the pastor and his inner circle, this could definitely be the result. Creston Mapes is an amazing author and I always look forward to reading his latest.

I barely got started and it was over ….. I’m sure Mr Mapes worked out some different endings “this way??” “ that way??”.I, personally, wasn’t satisfied with the end but, in relation to the story it fit. He did set that up pretty cool.A story out of any newspaper … those still in print, that is.How we humans grieve God’s heart. The All Mighty, the All Powerful God of the universe. Yet Love Everlasting…… free to all….to all who will call on Him.THANK YOU, FATHER, for your grace and mercy.
