Heart of the Monster A novel about Chernobyl

This hidden gem completely took me by surprise. Got it via Kindle and started reading. And a few hours later I was still reading, I couldn’t put it down. Set against the backdrop of the tragic events leading up to/ during the Chernobyl disaster, it is very well written with likeable characters even if some of them are obviously fictitious. There are also some minor technical mistakes with regards to the inner workings of the RBMK reactor. Being someone with extensive knowledge about this particular reactor type is not always a boon. Where I had to put other books down because of some egregious mistakes in that field, this book managed to sail past effortlessly. That fact alone says a lot about the quality of this writing. If you are looking for a captivating read that will smoothly combine fiction with reality, look no further. This book will not disappoint!
