Patricia –
I’ve been a loyal fan of Shea McGees design for years and this book showcases her amazing talent as a designer and as an author. The book is huge with gorgeous color photos on almost every page, it is beautifully bound and I will proudly display it front and center on my coffee table. When it arrived I didn’t put it down for over 4 hrs…. Yes it’s that good!! Not only are all of the pictures of beautifully designed spaces but as an author she really shares her vision insight. In the back of the book there is also a visual resource guide in which she explains materials for bedding and rugs, sizing for chandeliers and tables….. as well as styling tips for accessories. The writing is thoughtful and from the heart and I really value her love of family.5 stars!! Bravo!!(My book was received in perfect condition …… I see in some other reviews that their book had a rough journey to their home but I personally don’t feel it’s fair to take stars off for the Amazon driver being in a time crunch…. Just send it back and Amazon is great at sending out speedy replacements)

I preordered this book and was so excited for it! Studio McGee is my absolute favorite! To start, my copy from Amazon had obviously been dropped—the top corner was crunched. I wish Amazon would pack books better… And my copy was clean but I think a protective plastic cover would have made the presentation much more special. It’s a HUGE book. Very thick! Every page is beautiful. Because I’ve followed SM for years, most images weren’t new and I’d seen them before. But I don’t really mind since I love everything they do haha just a heads up if you’re hoping for lots of new content.I honestly think the price point is low (34 preorder, 27 now) for a book this quality and this size. It would have felt more high-end with a higher price point but that’s just my opinion. The writing felt a little bland in places like other reviews said. But I do love how she laid out the book by room (kitchens, bedrooms, etc) instead of project. Makes it great for referencing!Honestly buy this from Target instead—the Target edition has additional pages for holiday decorating and a silk ribbon bookmark.Overall beautiful thick book if you love all things Studio McGee, 4.5 stars, but with a few tweaks could have been even better!

Decorating new bookshelves to put in my office, a few inexpensive amazon finds have perfected the look!!

I really liked the book. During shipping the book was damaged on corners. Not a nice look for such a great book..

I’ve been following Studio McGee for many years now and so happy to finally have a book from this designer! The book is impressive for the price. It’s thick with high quality paper and has a helpful and organized user’s guide at the end. The photography is beautiful as are the designs and vignettes on each page. I personally prefer more historic and traditional architecture and homes over the ultra modern designs with floor to ceiling black steel windows. I appreciate that this book does include a variety of architectural styles, so even though there are some spaces I don’t care for, there’s plenty of other pages that showcase the more traditional and historic look that I love. I also think that interior design as a whole is moving away from the trendy modern farmhouse and being replaced with a “modern cottage” look. I think Studio McGee does a good job of using transitional style to bridge that gap, and I really hope going forward they do more of the modern cottage because it is so pretty! The calming palette used in this book is tasteful and elegant and full of rich layers, details, and textures. And for those that prefer louder “pops” of colors, well this book and overall look probably isn’t for you.

Quality and a Xmas gift

Love this book- the descriptions, the resource lists at the end. Great pictures and information. Better ( I think) than the other interior design book that was released by another well known decorator.

My husband bought this for me for Christmas—okay, I’ll admit it, I purchased it for myself and wrapped it as a gift from my husband since he isn’t one to shop for Christmas. Anyway, I waited until Christmas morning to look at the book and words can’t describe how ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and well made this is. I’m not sure if I’m the only one that does this, but when Studio McGee posts a video, I often pause the video and sometimes take a screenshot to save an idea. Well, this saves me from doing that. The thought process is evident and well done and the images are so well curated. I’m in love! Well done, Studio McGee.
