Evan R –
I did not expect this book to go this way at all. I thought it would be the opening characters who were involved only. But the depth of the development leading to the end was absolutely incredible. I couldn’t stop reading once I got to the 2nd part of the book. This book is a lot like a spaceship or a roller coaster because once it launches there is absolutely no turning back!

Okay this book has got to be one of the better ones of Frieda. The twists were pretty good and just when you thought it was over, it kept going. I do like that Frieda always leaves the reader with a non happy ending and this book was one of the few that sort of did but she still found a way to make it dark. The 2nd book deals with Millie so I will be excited to see her next move as a killer housemaid
Barbara Horn –
From the very first page I was sold. I almost read all the way through the night to finish it in one sitting. I stopped all my other reading to focus on this! There were several plot twists that caused the reader to review everything from the beginning. Millie, a maid with a past is hired to work in the wealthy home of the Winchesters. From the first moment she becomes aware that something is terribly wrong with Mrs. Winchester. Or is it? Could all of her bazaar crazy behavior be for a different reason? All will be revealed. Beware! You won’t be able to put this book down. Now I must read the other Housemaid sequels.
Hyacinth E. Palmer –
Okay, I have been on a roll these last few books. I had heard all of the hoopla surrounding this book. The eye looking through the peephole was my first clue that this was about to be a bumpy ride but, man! I still was not prepared for what transpired in this book.I had nothing to compare it to. I haven’t read anything like it…ever. I did learn a valuable lesson though, things are never as they seem. Not with Enzo. Not with Nina. Not with Evelyn. Not with Minnie and clearly not with Andrew. I judged wrong on the beginning and got my wig blown back in the end.I’m good. I don’t want a maid, lol!
Roberts Family –
Phenomenally written! This was the first book in years that I absolutely could not put down until it was completely finished! (Then quickly devoured the next two.) Brilliant foreshadowing that you don’t recognize until the twists occur.

OMG finished The Housemaid and boy was it a struggle….It was so good, I had to fight to stay awake, and force myself to go to work and not call out sick. But I did finish it over my lunch break! LOVED this book! ❣️I immediately bought The Housemaid’s Secret and the newest release The Housemaid is Watching. My only regret is that I waited so long to read this book!In true Freida McFadden fashion, plenty of twists! I love her writing style and can’t get enough!Must Read!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cyndee Jill Mady –
The Housemaid promises to keep you engaged at every turn of the page with twists you won’t see coming. I was quickly invested in the story and characters. From the structure to the richly satisfying parallels, The Housemaid is a perfect literary companion.
Jaclyn –
The first in the Housemaid series really had me thinking about the characters along the way. As we see the plot unfold, we learn so much about how things and people are not always what they appear. I loved the way the twists were embedded into the pages, and Frieda’s writing style is unmatched. Her reads are quick and easy and ooh so satisfying. I highly recommend this book, as you will be unable to put it down.
Wendi J. Kempf –
The Housemaid is everything I look for in a great fiction novel! The pace of the storyline moves along perfectly. Never a dull moment. Awesome characters. Truly excellent writing! I’m excited to read the rest of the books in the series!

Brace yourself, because “The Housemaid” is a novel that will keep you glued to the pages from start to finish, constantly questioning everything you think you know. Just when you believe you’ve unraveled the twisted narrative, author Freida McFadden pulls the rug out from under you, leaving you breathless and craving more. This book is a true masterclass in psychological suspense that demands to be devoured in a single, uninterrupted sitting. From the opening chapters, McFadden weaves an intricate web of mystery and deceit, introducing readers to a cast of complex characters and a seemingly idyllic suburban setting that harbors dark secrets beneath its pristine veneer. The story’s central figure, the enigmatic housemaid Millie, is a captivating presence, her motivations and allegiances constantly shifting, keeping you guessing about her true nature until the very end.As the plot unfolds, the tension ratchets up with each turn of the page, as McFadden deftly plants seeds of doubt and suspicion, forcing you to question the reliability of every character’s perspective. Just when you think you’ve pieced together the puzzle, she expertly upends your assumptions, leaving you reeling and eagerly devouring the next twist or revelation. What truly sets “The Housemaid” apart, however, is its ability to not only shock and surprise but also to delve into the depths of human psychology and the complexities of familial relationships. McFadden’s exploration of themes such as trust, loyalty, and the lengths to which people will go to protect their loved ones adds a compelling emotional layer to the narrative, making the characters and their plights resonate long after the final page. From the meticulously crafted plot to the richly developed characters and the haunting atmospheric backdrop, every element of “The Housemaid” is a testament to McFadden’s skill as a writer. She masterfully keeps you off-balance, constantly second-guessing your assumptions and reveling in the delicious uncertainty that permeates every chapter. In the end, this book is an absolute must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and suspense novels. It’s a true page-turner in every sense of the word, a book that will keep you captivated from start to finish, leaving you breathless and utterly floored by its brilliant execution. Do yourself a favor and clear your schedule before diving into “The Housemaid” – because once you start, you won’t be able to put it down until the jaw-dropping conclusion.
