Great pencil sharpener for the classroom. It sharpens pencils really good…just hope is hold up well after many pencils have been sharpened!

I needed a pencil sharpener for my workbench, as mechanical pencils are wonderful but far too often can prove to be a little fidgety, especially when I’m tired or slightly heavy handed. So, keeping my old dependable pencils sharp is an absolute necessity. The pencil sharpener is really fast, has a huge shavings bin so I don’t have to dump it continually and the motor appears very strong.Pencils are clean and sharp, perfectly sharpened and I don’t need to worry about slowing down my work progress due to dull pencils.Kinda like being back in grade school! LOL!Yes, I would recommend this sharpener and would absolutely add it to your workbench arsenal.

I’ve had the same rundown pencil sharpener for YEARS (at least 10) so it was time for an upgrade, unfortunately, picking it out wasn’t easy. I have expensive colored pencils that are my EVERYTHING, I was worried about getting one that would wear them down fast, but… I had heard good things about the X-ACTO brand. And it lives up to the hype. My Faber-Castell pencils, which are uniquely shaped, have an available option and fit in perfectly! Also, it doesn’t wear them, or any of my other pencils down much with each sharpening. It doesn’t have that annoying problem of constantly breaking the lead over and over again, and so far, has gotten all of my pencils on the first try, even the one that was busted, to begin with!Yeah, it’s a little pricey but personally, I think it’s worth every penny!

I am a school teacher and I have used so many different sharpeners. This one has seemed to last the longest and sharpens the best. The lead doesn’t break off and it sharpens all sides of the pencil, not just one side. It is very consistent and gives a nice point on the pencil. The only thing that is a little annoying is that the holding tray pops out a lot. I’ve just learned to hold it in as I am sharpening the pencils. I’ve had this sharpener for over a year now and it’s still going strong! Side note: I don’t let my students use it and I don’t put colored pencils in it.

Got this when I started taking drawing lessons and got fed up with little hand-sharpeners. It’s powerful and fast and has a huge receptacle for shavings that rarely needs to be emptied. Since I bought this one I’ve bought two more, one for my summer home and one for my drawing teacher to use in her classes. I’ve had electric sharpeners before, but this one is much more powerful and has openings for lots of different sizes of pencils. I have to be careful not to over-sharpen my colored pencils, which break easily.

The media could not be loaded. I bought a new classroom sharpener because my previous one, which I had been using for seven years, had become too troublesome to use. This one has worked well for me and is very easy to use!Pros: It sharpens pencils rapidly and has enough weight that I can operate it with just one hand. Unlike my previous sharpener, I don’t have to grip it firmly. I haven’t experienced any problems with overheating, even when I sharpened 40-50 pencils consecutively; it has performed flawlessly thus far.Cons: Occasionally, I encounter a situation where a sharpened pencil’s graphite falls out, necessitating a second sharpening. Nonetheless, I’m uncertain whether this is actually a fault of the sharpener.

The pencil sharpener brings me so much joy! I’ve been using it for months and no issues at all. Every time I find a pencil around the house I immediately go sharpen it before I put it away. My teenagers look for excuses to sharpen our pencils too. It takes about 2-3 seconds to fully sharpen a new pencil (even less when re-sharpening) and it disengages the blade so it doesn’t keep chewing through the pencil. Nice, even, centered point. I use it at home, but wouldn’t hesitate to use this in a high-use setting like a classroom. However, I wouldn’t let a classroom of young kids use this without direct supervision since technically a little finger could fit in the sharpening hole and kids are weird. Not sure if it would actually cut a finger, but I wouldnt be comfortable leaving it out where little kids could mess with it.

I homeschool my kids, so we use a lot of pencils and colored pencils at home. My sharpener stopped working after a while, and I emailed X-Acto and told them about the problem. After a few pictures and videos of my sharpener, they sent me a replacement. I will always buy X-Acto from now on as I love their customer service. Sharpener works very well. I love that it has different sizes and also has slots for triangular pencils. Very good product and highly recommend.

Twenty years ago, just as my children began to write, I bought an old school sharpener – you know the one! That old workhorse of a sharpener found just inside the door of every classroom from K-12! I hung it in the laundry room, and had a metal waste basket below it. It felt very much like the right way to begin the process of educating my little people! I am that mom that tried to have all the right tools & bought out the office supply store each fall. There are two items I never had to replace… my huge hallway bulletin board & my manual workhorse of a pencil sharpener!I loved the way that you could feel the pencil being sharpened just right… it took me a helluva long time to perfect my technique, and there was nothing quite as satisfying as getting the point just right! Even as a self-described expert, many times I would get distracted and not turn my pencil every few rotations and I would end up with one side of the pencil with a ridiculously long, half exposed, point that would break if you tried to even it out. I might get that perfect point on my first go, but I could just as easily end up with a stump of a pencil before it finally was usable. And don’t even get me started on the pencil shavings!! I have never figured out how to keep the area around the sharpener clean. I don’t care how careful or diligent you are when emptying that pencil sharpener… It’s a unique kind of mess that makes its way out of the holes and seems even when it’s empty! And the mess it makes if you accidentally bump it, or if your child decides to empty it for you!!!If you use the old standard for the classroom, there is no getting around the mess.Still, though, even with all the headache of using perfect technique the pencil debris, it It was worth it. I felt confident it would last forever & no matter what my kids tried to sharpen. It has performed 19+ years, and still going strong! My main requirement was to have a sharpener that would be reliable and was mounted so it could not get moved or lost!Recently, though, I went to sharpen a pencil & there where my sharpener was screwed to the wall was nothing except four empty screw holes. I stood with my dull pencil wondering whether it was the kids or my husband that decided to rob me of my pencil sharpener, and destabilize my life!!In that moment, I decided to indulge in a grown-up sharpener! I searched all the reviews and narrowed my choices down to a small group, and finally decided on the plug in X-acto “School Pro” model.I am very change adverse… so, even though I was going with electric I still wanted something that was meant to last! I also wanted something that could sharpen various sizes, and was pleased to find an electric sharpener that also did the triangular shaped barrel often used by small children or in construction.to be able to sharpen various sized pencils. My experience with this sharpener has far exceeded my previous experiences with automatic sharpeners. Up until now, I avoided buying an electric sharpener, because the ones I have used are finicky, had to push the pencil in hard, and often made the sharpened point easy to break when writing.I tend to write with enough pressure to make an impression through several pages. The main thing that I thought the old school model would be better for was the length and shape of the sharpened point of the pencil. Even though you had to be skilled at customizing the writing point, when you did get it just right, the point did not break easily and it would write for a long time without needing to be re-sharpened every few paragraphs.I was very happy to be wrong! I have been using this electric sharpener for a few months and the writing point is as near perfect. I might need to knock off the very tip, but it’s easier than getting your ball-point pen to start to write. Given the ease of used, and the ample (way less messy) catch bin… I am loving my new sharpener!! Also, it will not sharpen if the bin is not fully locked in place, and I appreciate that.I do put my hand on the back end to stabilize the sharpener and keep it from scooting back. I do not need to push the pencil in hard, you can easily feed the pencil in and you don’t need to turn it or keep pulling it out and pushing it back in. I don’t believe a toddler has long enough fingers to trigger the motor, but if you have young children around, maybe remove the bin when not in use to be extra cautious. I can’t speak to how well it would hold up against all the stuff my kids tried to sharpen on my trusty workhorse, but for use on regular use by teens/adults on pencils (different thickness, colored, and triangular shaped.)I recommend it, especially as an affordable upgrade to your household sharpener, for the ease of use, versatility, and easy cleanup! If I had known about this product twenty years ago, I would have bought it instead of my old standby. It is large enough to not be carted off, and even if the motor only last a few years, when considering cost vs. constant mess of old one… I absolutely would be willing to take that chance, and save myself the headache. However, manual sharpening uses no electricity and that, coupled with the fact that they have proven themselves as practically indestructible, are strong enough points to make the choice difficult!.

Tried other sharpeners and this one is so far ahead of its competitors that it leaves them in the dust. Sharpens pencils fast, straight, and leaves a nice point. Easy on the pencils too as it doesn’t chew them all up to get the job done. Very large shavings container which is easy to dump. Shavings are caught nicely in the container and it doesn’t make a mess when you go to dump it. I use it for regular pencils as well as colored pencils. Does great on both. This thing is big so check your measurements to make sure you have enough space for it. It has suction cups on the bottom that help hold it in place. You don’t have to hold onto it to sharpen pencils. So far good purchase.
